Meningitis & Septicaemia Awareness – KNOW THE SIGNS!

Do you know the signs and symptoms of meningitis and septicemia or would you just look for the tell-tale purple rash that doesn’t disappear under a glass? Quite often, by the time the rash appears the condition is already very severe.

Did you also know that your child doesn’t have to have meningitis to have sepsis (septicaemia), a life threatening condition on its own.

September 19th – 25th has been designated by the Meningitis Research Foundation as Meningitis Awareness Week and their main aim this year is to make more people aware of the symptoms for both meningitis AND septicaemia. At my nurseries, we have decided to increase this awareness by holding a ‘dress-up in’ Purple Day on Thursday 22nd, allowing us to share the information cards giving the signs and symptoms to look out for and encourage the parents to read them. You can view/download the symptom cards from the homepage.
